In order to improve maritime data exchange in the WCA region, a port maritime data exchange system has been installed and implemented in the five MARENDA pilot ports: Tema, Abidjan, Lagos, Douala and Dakar. The system has been designed as a star topology network of regional nodes (one on each port) and a central node. Regional Nodes are in charge of providing information on ship movement and cargo in the areas of coverage. The MARENDA Central Node is a routing node between the regional nodes and is in charge of administering the users, monitoring the network of the regional nodes and providing additional services as real time GIS visualization of the data. The access to MARENDA AIS network is restricted and managed by PMAWCA with the support of the 5 pilot ports and MARENDA. Link to MARENDA AIS
